Located at 361 North Marietta Parkway NE in Marietta, Atlanta Dentures commits to providing patients with beautiful smiles. The goal is excellent dental health with bridges, dentures, and partials. However, getting prospective clients to notice the building was difficult. It is a large medical office setting without suitable windows for graphics. The dental office needed a game changer. Channel letter sign raceway construction was the answer.

Providing Wayfinding Assistance with Internally-Lit LED Channel Letters on a Raceway

However, our technicians were able to help. We designed and manufactured a channel letter sign with a front-lit setup. Its white fronts light up brightly after dark.

The installation was possible with the help of a raceway design. It involves the use of an elongated, rectangular box that we painted in the same color as the façade. Next, we installed the letters to the front of the box. All electrical components went inside. Finally, we mounted the back of the box to the building.

From the ground, it is almost impossible to tell that this channel letter setup relies on the raceway construction. Moreover, it now succeeds in providing the wayfinding and marketing the office needs to welcome patients. The white of the lettering contrasts beautifully with the brick tones of the building’s façade.

Who Benefits from a Raceway Setup?

Several scenarios make the sign raceway an attractive installation method for channel letters.

  • Lease limitations. Flush-mounting channel letters to a wall requires multiple drill holes per letter. Installing a raceway box only needs a few. Some management companies limit channel letter installation to raceway setups for this reason.
  • Façade problems. The flush mount requires the ability to get behind the letters to finish the electrical wiring. Sometimes, there are reasons why it is impossible to access the letters from behind the façade. Frequently, ductwork or wiring can make it impossible to reach them. Having the electrical components outside makes more sense.
  • Roof mounting option. Do you want to display your channel letters on a roof? Roof brackets make it possible to hook into the raceway sign and secure it to the shingles at the angle that you want. Trying to accomplish this look with individual letters is not realistic.

What Does a Raceway Look Like?

The raceway is a long box. Its front opens with a hinge. You have a width of about four inches to work with, which is enough to contain the wiring. Lengths vary. Depending on the size of your lettering, our technicians may prefer to put together multiple sections.

End caps close off the raceway and protect it against the elements. Because we paint the material in the same tone as the façade, it is virtually invisible. That said, some clients have asked us to paint it in a brand color that creates a visual contrast. We can do that, too.
